Royal City School of Ballet

Creative Ballet 1 and 2 and Primary Ballet

Ages 3 to approximately 7 years

This introduction to dance program is designed to develop the motor skills of the 3 to 7 year old child through the basics of classical ballet and creative movement. The aim is to develop co-ordination, posture, technique, discipline and musicality while encouraging the joy of dance through imagination, self-expression and fun. Fundamentals and terminology of traditional classical ballet and work from the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus are introduced appropriately. Creative Ballet 1 is for 3 and 4 year olds. Creative Ballet 2 is for 5 and 6 year olds. Primary Ballet is the first level in which students may participate in R.A.D. examinations (6 -1/2 to 7-1/2 year olds).
Students must be able to participate in class without parental aid as this fosters their sense of independence and autonomy. Classes are 45 minutes once a week.
